Nintendo raises eyebrows with new trademarks

wii-body-controller.jpgNintendo certainly did move the hearts of even the most neutral of observers when it released the (then controversial) DS and Wii consoles, and this time the Japanese company is set to bring about yet another revolutionary change if their newly registered trademarks are anything to go by. For starters, these trademarks are registered in Japan only at the moment, and will feature the Wii Body Controller at the top of the list. This is nothing but a glorified hula hoop attachment to many, although I wonder how exactly will games implement such a mechanism without resulting in sore hips after 10 minutes.

Next on the list is the Wii Handle – judging by the name alone, this will probably be some form of fake barbell attachment that aims to increase your real life health meter by a notch with constant use. The rest are Nintendo Magic, Mii Audition, Soma Bringer, as well as the renewal of the Pikmin trademark which most certainly means there is a new Pikmin game in the offing for the equally quirky Wii.

Bear in mind all the conceived usage of the above mentioned devices are currently purely fictional. After all, who would’ve thought that the name Revolution could be changed to Wii while getting away with it with gangbusters sales? I certainly didn’t, so I won’t be going around laughing at these new gaming peripherals just yet until more information is released. Unfortunately, I really don’t see any ’serious’ games arising from all of these introduced peripherals – can you?
