Fans of Stranglehold will have to wait just a little bit longer as Midway Games recently announced that the title has just gone gold for the Xbox 360 platform. In a nutshell, Stranglehold is a collaboration with John Woo’s Tiger Hill Entertainment that places players in the shoes of Inspector Tequila – talk about a strange name! Inspector Tequila would be familiar to those who have watched the action maestro’s “Hard Boiled” film in the past, being a no-nonsense, tough talking guy who clearly does not know the meaning of fear (either that or he’s just plain foolish).

I suppose that Stranglehold had better be a commercial success, especially after hearing about Midway throwing in approximately $30 million to create the game. The team behind the game also developed Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, if that’s any indication of the title’s quality. Those living in North America will be able to receive this game from September 5th onwards for Xbox 360 owners, while PC gamers will have to wait around a fortnight after that with a shipping date slated for September 18th.

As for long suffering PS3 owners, they will not only receive the game on a Blu-ray disc, they will also be recipients of the entire Hard Boiled movie on the media itself – talk about an unprecedented bonus! I wonder if that will affect the number of movies sold under the Blu-ray banner in the bitter war between HD DVD and Blu-ray. Nevertheless, PS3 owners will just have to sit back an additional week after PC owners as Stranglehold for their console will ship beginning September 25th. Our European friends will have to wait longer as usual, with Stranglehold being slated to ship in Europe on September 14th for the Xbox 360, on September 21st for the PC and in October for the PS3.
