Konami to unveil mobile Castlevania titles
August 27th, 2007 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Konami’s long running Castlevania series isn’t about to end anytime soon, and that is definitely good news. Word has it that the company will be coming up with a couple of new Dracula-killing adventures, and this time it will be made available on the cellphone platform. Not only will Konami bring Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow to the cellphone, it will also offer a brand new Castlevania adventure dubbed Castlevania: Order of Shadows for mobile carriers AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Networks, among others when September rolls around. Aria of Sorrow is a remake of the GBA classic, so it would be interesting to see how the game holds out on a cellphone platform.
According to Joe Morris, Vice President of Konami Mobile, “As a worldwide leader in high quality, multi-platform videogames, Konami is looking to raise the entertainment standard of games for mobile phones. Mobile technology has exploded, providing powerful new tools to enhance today’s mobile gaming experiences. Konami’s esteemed game developers will be creating original titles based on the company’s top franchises including Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid Mobile, Contra and others.”
Castlevania: Order of Shadows, being an exclusive game to the mobile platform, will boast updated abilities and spells, an expanded bestiary of never-seen-before enemies, original songs, and the wonders of full screen particle effects that shames other cellphone games currently available in the market. No idea on how much it costs though. I wonder which cellphone would have the best control scheme to cater for such a bad ass game.
