Button killer coming to the DS
August 10th, 2007 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Does anyone remember the Shooting Watch concept that was released twenty years ago? This controller is one that actually measures the amount of times you are capable of tapping a button within 10 seconds, and this simple idea actually moved to sell over a million units. 20 years later, what has changed? Certainly the video game landscape has made entertainment a totally different ball game, but what of the Shooting Watch? Hudson Caravan celebrates its 20th anniversary by touring Japan and selling limited edition merchandise as well as organize button tapping competitions. So far the record stands at 16 presses, courtesy of Takahashi Meijin. What does this have to do with the DS, you ask? Read more about it after the jump.
Homebrew developer actually came up with his very own Shooting Watch game, and this time it will grace the DS. Just like the real thing, it will be able to keep track of the number of times you will be able to bash the A button when the clock stops after ten seconds. Should you actually be fast enough, the watermelon shown on the screen will explode!
I wonder what would have happened if there was a homebrew software that counts how many times you’ll be able to tap the screen in 10 seconds. Surely screen protectors will sell like hot cakes then, and it will be as addictive as those scripts you find that test your reaction time in a browser. Shooting Watch DS comes with a quartet of other diversions, including clock, stop watch, three slots, and four slots. While they’re entertaining on their own, they certainly can’t hold a candle to the Shooting Watch mode.
