DS gets another self-improvement title
July 5th, 2007 by Edwin in General Gaming News
The Nintendo DS is truly experiencing a renaissance in gaming, with titles that cater to a wide range of gamers from hardcore to casual folks. Do you still remember Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Age: Train your brain in Minutes a day? Now that was an effective title, bringing me back to my DS day after day just to see if my gray matter has deteriorated or not. In fact, this title is so successful that it is still selling by the truckloads even today across all continents. There is yet another Training title on the way to the DS, and this time it is “Face Training”. This news comes hot off the heels that skin-care and yoga titles were on their way from Konami, and it just makes me wonder what Face Training is all about.
Women are the primary targets for this new game known as Otona No DS Kao Training in Japanese, and it uses a special DS camera that is hooked into your Game Boy Advance cartridge port. You’ll need to play this game sideways just like in Brain Age, enabling the camera to compare facial movements to instructions displayed on the screen. Strange as it sounds, these face exercises were meant to prevent wrinkles while keeping the face young in order to fight the ravages of time. The product’s web site mentioned that “For the muscles of the face to work properly, flexibility, pliability, and muscular strength are all required.” Apparently facial sagging occurs when these muscles aren’t kept in shape.
Face Training will hit Japanese stores on August 2nd for approximately $39, with no plans for a release on other continents. Imagine sitting on a train or bus while seeing DS devotees scrounging their faces in all ways possible to stave off the sands of time while saving money on skipping a plastic surgery job.
