Talismoon bring semblance of Wii to Xbox 360
June 22nd, 2007 by Edwin in Gaming Hardware
Motion control system – pure gimmick or is it here to stay for good? The jury is still out on this one, as the Nintendo Wii continues to do gangbusters across all continents, selling out before the console itself has spent a day on store shelves. PS3 owners have an impotent version of the Wii’s motion sensing controls with their SixAxis controller, but is a little bit better than nothing at all? That is an answer which Xbox 360 owners would be able to give you, be it positive, negative, or neutral. Talismoon is now offering a motion sensing accessory to Xbox 360 owners so that they won’t feel left out the moment somebody talks about the joys of motion sensing controls.
Known as the Tiltboard, this accessory must be soldered onto the Xbox 360 controller before it can see action, throwing in tilt control as well as a couple more buttons to toggle it should there be any in-game support. Some D.I.Y. knowledge is preferred before you actually take the soldering iron and put it into action, since there are a total of seven wires that need soldering, attaching the Tiltboard to the Xbox 360 controller. If you’re not too sure on going about it, you can always head down to your local electronics or hardware store and ask the staff there to do it for you for a nominal sum.
Unfortunately, I doubt that you will find the Tiltboard to be of much use since there aren’t any games at the moment on the Xbox 360 that has tilt functionality in mind for obvious reasons. Perhaps future driving and air simulation games will be able to take advantage of the Tiltbox, but until then this looks like an unnecessary luxury.
