Another exclusive on the Xbox 360
June 13th, 2007 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Looks like the Xbox 360 will be receiving yet another exclusive title in the form of (surprise, surprise) a war game. Titled America’s Army: True Solider, you can be sure that the money spent on this title will bring nothing but hours upon hours of bloodshed in an attempt to restore peace and order to the world. According to creative director Randy Greenback from Red Storm Entertainment, the decision to make America’s Army: True Solider available on just the Xbox 360 boils down to familiarity and market share. I guess he’s right in a way, since Japan ain’t too hot on blowing up people and vehicles for entertainment purposes.
To emphasize his point, he mentioned that “First and foremost our experience level on the 360 is much higher, having gone through the development of GRAW and GRAW2 multiplayer. The second factor is that the installed base is much larger, which translates to a greater opportunity for a wider audience to experience the game.” A much larger installed base eh – guess he has not much faith in the PS3’s supposed resurgence once everyone gets over the (also supposed) Wii effect. This isn’t too good a sign for Sony’s latest console, with developers sticking to the familiar and not taking financial risks.
Here’s some trivia – America’s Army: True Soldier will make use of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 engine, except that gameplay will remain in just the first person view. You can hook up with 15 other people for a truly engaging online co-op experience across 8 different missions.
