Time Ace for the DS preview
June 5th, 2007 by Edwin in Game Previews
The highly anticipated PC version of the Black Box bundle of Half Life 2: Episode 2 which includes both Portal and Team Fortress 2 as well has been nixed. This bad news means gamers will only have the Orange Box version to choose from, where it contains the original Half Life 2 as well as Half Life 2: Episode 1 in addition to Episode 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. For those who have no inkling of what the Half Life sequel ensues, now would be a good time to pick up the Orange Box when it is released. For those who already have Half Life 2 and Episode 1, the inclusion means you have a couple of Christmas presents to give away later this year to the less fortunate.
While the original was in 2D, the remake will come in full 3D on the DS. The advent of technology has given us the benefits of a more engaging story thanks to extras like (much) better graphics and cut scenes. The premise is pretty simple, where Dr. Hugo Clock (love the surname) built a time machine with the noble intention of preventing the first World War from happening, but as with most best intentions, things go awry as his power hungry assistant, Dr. Klaus Scythe used this time machine to hoard a bunch of weapons from the future to rule the past.
Apparently you control your craft by using the D-pad only, unlike Starfox that made use of the DS’ touchscreen. Take note that the original can also be played on Xbox Live Arcade, so if you have an Xbox 360, do check it out to get a taste of what the action will be like. Hopefully this title will be a winner when released.
