Eball brings the tense moments home

eball.jpgProfessional athletes are often placed in a pressure cooker situation. Take for example, soccer players who are involved in a penalty shootout when it comes to the World Cup Final. The atmosphere is tense to say the least, and if you screw up, you will be reviled by your fellow countrymen long after that fateful day has passed into the annals of history – win and you will be immortalized as a great patriot. If you have ever wondered whether you have what it takes to operate with a clear mind at the highest level, the Eball mobile sports simulator device is it. This unique contraption works as a Computer Human Interface with virtually any real world game that involves balls.

Motion and speed sensors are able to sense your kick, throw, or golf swing, processing the results in a visual format that is then displayed on a big screen. If you actually beat the odds and perform the impossible, the crowd will roar in wild anticipation – should you do otherwise, you get a collective, disappointing sigh. The commentator is also dynamic enough to give you a much deserved pat on the back for your success, while a miss results in a consolation message. This virtual reality sports simulator is currently under development to cater for a number of inflatable structure in an effort to release a promotional killer application that can be set up quickly and painlessly anywhere, be it indoors or outdoors.

The company behind Eball is also working on a wide variety of sports and are more than keen to discuss development opportunities with interested parties. Should this technology be perfected, it will definitely outstrip the Nintendo Wii in terms of realism. The ball used will be a real ball, so it is as much a matter of skill as it is in the real world. The inflatable housing currently stands at 7m x 5m x 3m when fully inflated, and can be set up in any hall without too much hassle. Will such technology also make it to youth academies of various sports in order to speed up the development of their talent? Only time will tell, but I am one optimistic person after reading this news.
