Final Fantasy IV rumor

I did not have the privilege of playing Final Fantasy III back in the heydays of the NES mainly due to two reasons – I did not own a NES console, and I sure as heck don’t understand Japanese! Thankfully, the good folk at Square Enix decided that Final Fantasy III was too good a game to be passed up in order to milk more money that the company has taken and given it a complete graphical update of the original adventure on the Nintendo DS platform. The result was stunning to say the least, and even at some places you can’t quite find Final Fantasy III DS on the store shelves until now. Word on the street has it that the same team who were involved in the Final Fantasy III remake will also be working on an update to Final Fantasy IV, generally agreed by many to be one of the best game ever to date.

Final Fantasy IV could be said to be where the franchise really took off, featuring the debut of the Active Time Battle System in any game while boasting an epic storyline that RPG fanatics still remember until today. While Final Fantasy IV has seen many remakes over the years (with the most recent one being on the GBA), none of them have given the title the graphical justice it deserves.

Should this piece of news be true, do expect Square Enix to announce a confirmation in the near future. Some punters are hedging their bets that the Square Enix Party that’s happening this weekend in Japan will be the perfect platform for such an announcement. Word on the grapevine also claims that the graphical port is also nearly completed, so that’s nothing but more good news for gamers who want to experience the wonder of Final Fantasy IV on the DS for the first (or umpteenth time).
