HP has a long track record of providing nothing but solid business class computers, but apparently the clarion call of gaming hardware proved too hard to resist with the management giving the go-ahead for HP to come up with a range of gaming notebooks, starting with the Pavilion HDX. This unique notebook is proof that the Voodoo PC buyout has finally borne some fruits, and you can be assured that the Pavilion HDX notebook will come with a bunch of impressive looking high performance parts for both gaming and casual entertainment like watching DVDs.

Just like how the Dell XPS M2010 resembles a desktop, the HP Pavilion HDX fares no differently with its humongous 20″ display that makes your desktop’s 17″ and 19″ LCD monitors pale in comparison. Of course, with such a generous screen size, you can expect the Pavilion HDX to come with a pretty hefty weight that tips the scales at 12 pounds. The bottom part of the casing is so large it is capable of accommodating a full-featured Windows Media Center remote on the left of the full size keyboard and touch sensitive media keys that dot the upper part of the keyboard.

Exact system specifications have not yet been revealed by the suits at HP, although we do know that this gamer centric powerhouse will utilize Intel’s Santa Rosa-based Core 2 Duo processors that top out at 2.4GHz, a higher end video chipset which will most probably consist of NVIDIA’s new GeForce Go 8000-series GPU. Optional components can be purchased including an HD DVD drive with HDMI input and a webcam. There is no word on when the HP Pavilion HDX will be released nor how much it costs, but rest assured it won’t be cheap.
