Wii Blaster coming this June
May 3rd, 2007 by Edwin in Gaming Hardware
Owners of the Nintendo Wii have enjoyed a different way of gaming for quite some time already, but as we asked the question before, do you think the novelty factor of swishing a remote control around will last for a long time to come, or is this just a passing fad? One thing’s for sure though, the Wii is still experiencing the enviable problem of having way too much demand for its supply line to keep up. With the introduction of the Wii Blaster, expect new games that take advantage of this gaming peripheral to start mushrooming out of game studios in the near future.
First seen as a prototype at last year’s E3, the Wii Blaster is now fully operational and will be up for sale shortly. Surprisingly, it will not be a first party product from Nintendo but instead will be manufactured by a third party accessory manufacturer known as Core Gamer. GameStop has already updated its product page for the Wii Blaster, featuring a $19.99 price tag. The Wii blaster will come in a white and orange shell that enables the gamer to snap a Wii Remote onto it and wield it like a pistol.
For those who do not know who Core Gamer is, the company has already made a couple of accessories for the Wii in the form of steering wheels and sporting equipment. The Wii Blaster is set to ship when June 26 rolls around. Will you be getting this when it is ready for shipping, or will you wait for a more comprehensive game library to be available first?
