Go!Cam details announced
May 2nd, 2007 by Edwin in Gaming Hardware
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have finally broken its silence over the Go!Cam video camera attachment for the Sony PSP, but that’s not all. Apparently, there was also word about the Go!Edit portable photo and video editing suite that comes with full Internet uploading functionality. This sounds pretty good in theory, but to edit both photos and videos on a platform like the PSP sounds pretty much like a dead end to me. After all, you don’t have any touch screen capability that offers far superior flexibility for tasks such as those. It remains to be seen whether the Go!Edit will deliver as promised, so why not drop us a comment when you’ve given this software a whirl upon its release?
The Go!Cam will be launched in Europe this May 16th for €49.99 ($68), where a 4GB Memory Stick is capable of storing up to 2.5 hours of video recording or 40,000 photos. Each Go!Cam is equipped with an integrated microphone and a vertically tilting lens that enables the user to redirect the camera as desired, including towards the user him/herself. At that price, each purchase also comes bundled with the Go!Edit software that not only edits both photos and videos, it allows users to add in sound and graphical enhancements as well. When connected to the Internet, PSP owners can also upload their various modified masterpieces taken with the Go!Cam for all and sundry to see.
According to SCEE PSP marketing manager Stephane Hareau, “Go!Cam is fantastic news for all those PSP owners looking for something new, fun and creative. With Summer around the corner and the ability to turn your PSP into a mini camcorder and capture all the best moments in your life, this is yet another reason to get a PSP and to take advantage of truly portable entertainment.”
