Transformers on DS take the Pokemon route
April 26th, 2007 by Edwin in General Gaming News
With the Transformers movie looming just across the horizon, it only makes perfect sense to milk the franchise for all it’s worth. Hence, video game tie ins are but the natural sequence of events, which is why the Nintendo DS will receive not one, but two Transformers title in the same manner as the Pokemon series when the game is launched this coming July on the 20th. Gamers will be pleased to know that WiFi multiplayer is supported, so you can choose to take up the Decepticon or Autobot cause, depending on your alignment.
The game involves 20 story and 20 challenge missions for those who love playing solo, while others who are into multiplayer will be able to enjoy 4-way team deathmatch as well as AllSpark Sports showdowns. There will be a global player leaderboard for a greater level of competitiveness among all owners of this game when it comes to AllSpark Wars. As you progress in each mission, you will be able to develop your custom Transformer’s stats and abilities which include customizable paint-jobs and more than 30 vehicles to morph into.
Word has it the Autobots will be given Antartic levels while the Decepticons bake their asses off in desert adventures. It makes me wonder, if a movie is not up to your expectations, very rarely will the game outdo the movie. But what if this Transformers game is actually a gem, will you pick up both Decepticon and Autobot versions, or just one? I think at that time most people will still be occupied with their Pokemons, which would be rather unfortunate if this title was a hidden gem.
