Indian epic MMORPG could be available on Xbox 360
March 13th, 2007 by Edwin in Game Development Insights, General Gaming News
The team working on the upcoming PC game Mahabharata: The Dawn of Kaliyuga (try saying that ten times over, fast) have been interviewed by Indian game site GameGuru, and we have managed to narrow down certain sections of the interview that we think make for an interesting read. Created by Syncere Arts (what’s with the funky spelling, guys?) that is based in Gujarat, India, the team dropped word that Mahabharata stands a chance of being ported over to the Xbox 360 console in addition to other gems.
According to the team, since they’re based in India, what better way to come up with a game other than adopting material from their homeland itself? After all, Syncere Arts hopes to follow the Bollywood model that has been a worldwide success in general. They are banking that interest in Indian films will also be carried forward over games that contain Indian roots within. Of course, this is a pretty bold ambition at the moment, but somehow the Xbox 360 isn’t exactly selling too well in India itself (is it due to the lack of gaming interest overall, or just the Xbox 360 itself?), so if the local market can’t support gaming, do you think that internationally, Mahabharata will do well?
For those who are interested to know more about Mahabharata, this game is an RPG played from the first person perspective. The story won’t be butchered to fit the game, but will stick closely to the original whilst upholding good gameplay values. It will not see any action on the cellphone market as well as consoles other than the Xbox 360 (even that is a remote possibility since the team is rushing to complete the game first). Well, what can I say? Good luck, guys.
