Luminous Arc coming in English
March 11th, 2007 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
RPGs just don’t remain as RPGs these days, as you see all forms of different sub-genres. One of the more successful branches is strategy RPG, and owners of the Gameboy Advance family will be proud to inform you that that platform has tons of great strategy RPG titles - something that is sorely lacking on the Nintendo DS front. Thankfully, we can give a shoutout to Atlus USA for going through great lengths of trouble to bring Luminous Arc over the Pacific to North America.
Luminous Arc is a Japanese strategy RPG for those who are not in the know, and the story involves the traditional “save the world with your party” quests, culminating in beating the living daylights out of the final boss. The touchscreen on the DS definitely adds a whole new dimension to gameplay as the title itself features interesting tasks such as item crafting amongst others. This isometric strategy RPG also features online battles that will greatly enhance the longevity of any title.
For those who haven’t picked up any strategy RPGs to date, do try to hunt down copies of Rebelstar: Tactical Assault (a mini X-Com style title) and Fire Emblem and give both of them a go. You won’t be disappointed, I promise. In the mean time, it is great to hear that Luminous Arc will be making its way to North America. Looks like there still is plenty of room for translators to work in the game industry just in case they get bored of churning out English books from Japanese texts and vice versa.
