Wii could get Fight Night franchise
February 12th, 2007 by Edwin in Game Development Insights
I am sure by now most of you Wii owners would have had grown tired of beating the living daylights out of the ever-smiling Miis in Wii Boxing, causing you to set that title aside just for the occasional bout. What better way to get your pugilistic dose in a more realistic environment than getting some form of Fight Night Round 3 on the Wii? Gabriel Montoya, producer of Fight Night Round 3, has dropped the ball that a Wii version could very well be on its way and is being discussed by the suits at EA. He claims that they have a very positive feeling about this, combining the realism of the game with the Wii’s capabilities.
Wii Boxing is one of the most simple modern day boxing games you can experience, letting the gamer know that he/she can just throw punches without being bogged down by a complex control scheme. This is totally the opposite of Fight Night, where it is a true blue boxing simulation that offers a level of realism which was not reached before by other games. The very idea of merging the Wii’s unique control scheme with the intricacies of Fight Night is definitely something that EA wants the gamer to experience.
This very idea will definitely send shivers down any boxing fan’s spine, whether they loved Wii Boxing, Fight Night Round 3, or both. Hopefully the polished game will feature a precise control system that weeds out the occasional random and inaccurate movement that is present on Wii Boxing. Time to pick up those Wii Weights and start working out for the big night!
