Tekken 5 making its way to PS3 this month
February 7th, 2007 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Fans of the Tekken franchise have been kept in the dark by Namco regarding the North American release of the PS3’s exclusive download of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection up until now. Although one could get the download in Japan since December last year, there is nothing quite like having it on American soil later this month. The demo weighs in at 800MB and looks best when played on a full HD TV. This means the version at home will look vastly superior to the arcade counterpart at 1080p. Unfortunately, pricing details are still kept in secret, but I think fans of Tekken won’t mind forking out a little extra to make good use of their dust-gathering PS3.
According to Namco, this download over at the PlayStation Store will feature lightning fast gameplay (sorry gramps, you will just have to stick to your Wii), jaw-dropping graphics, and a huge repertoire of warriors to choose from. Players are now able to play as Jinpachi Mishima, who was an unplayable boss from the arcade version. Additional features include Ghost Battle and a Gallery Mode. For more information, head on to the official site.
Too bad there is no online multiplayer for Tekken 5, which means you still have to invite your buddies over to your pad for an ass kicking session. Imagine the possibilities that come with online play - there might even be money to be made from virtual leagues. That’s stretching the imagination by quite a mile, but it sure beats sitting at home and duking it out with a computer or your roommate for the umpteenth time.
