Every Nintendo DS Lite owner will discover that his/her precious bundle of joy is extremely prone to scratches, which is why it is essential to pick up a protective case of some sort. In this review, I would like to draw your attention to pick up the Hori-licensed Nintendo DS Lite hard protective cover from Brando. One of the reasons why I chose a hard cover over a soft silicone one is the fact that silicone covers don’t do much against really deep external scratches, and there is also the problem of condensation when sweat seeps in from too many hours of frantic play.

Placing the Hori Hard Protective Case is a pretty simple affair. Once you have removed the double sided tape on the inside part of both cases, carefully place them onto your Nintendo DS Lite and press it gently. There is no need to apply any additional force as the double sided tape does its job pretty well. The underside also comes with a couple of anti-slip feet which is a nice touch to ensure your DS Lite does not accidentally slip off a table with a simple nudge or swipe.

Suffice to say, if you want to get rid of fingerprints, the Hori hard protective case won’t do the job. It attracts an equal amount of prints from regular play, no thanks to its glossy surface, but at least you feel good knowing that the Nintendo DS Lite itself is free from prints underneath. There will be a little bit of dust built up at the end of the day, but that is only expected and is nothing to be worried about.

Overall, the Hori hard protective case does its job pretty well and protects all the essential parts. It does not add to the weight greatly, so frequent travelers need not worry. Brando is carrying the Hori Hard Protective Cover for $15 each, and comes in Polar White, Light Blue, and Enamel Navy colors.

[...] Our sister site Game Addicts has a couple of hardware reviews up, and we will look at them briefly. As everyone knows, the Nintendo DS Lite is one sexy piece of hardware when compared to the DS Phat, but the smooth, shiny surface scratches all too easily and is a prime target for oily fingerprints and other unwanted marks. This is where the Hori Protective Case for the Nintendo DS Lite comes in handy – for just $15, you get to protect your $129 investment, leaving the case to absorb all the nasty scratches, knocks, and prints while maintaining the DS Lite’s original, pristine condition.
