Big Brain Academy
June 26th, 2006 by Sean in Game Previews
You’ve probably heard of Brain Age (Brain Training here in the UK) for the Nintendo DS but you may not have come across Big Brain Academy, another DS title with a similar aim of stretching your brain with a series of simple(ish) puzzles.
Whereas Brain Age was really intended for adults as was aimed more at 40+ year olds, Big Brain Academy is intended for a much wider age range, certainly down to teenagers, as some of the games might be a bit difficult for the younger gamer. Instead of calculating the age of your brain, Big Brain Academy works out its “weight” in the categories Think, Identify, Memorise, Compute and Analyse, and displays your results on a strange pentagon shaped graph.
You can improve your brain weight by playing several different games in each of the different catagories. Examples include working out which of a series of animals is the heaviest given a series of scales weighing the various animals against each other, or connecting a series of tiles in a grid together with a single line. Other games include calculating which set of displayed coins has the highest value, or finding some matching pairs of tiles.
If you feel like giving the old grey matter a bit of a workout, then maybe Big Brain Academy could be just what you’re looking for! If you want to know more, and perhaps even give it a whirl, visit the official website here, which has some simple online examples you can play via a browser.
