A Cure For Tekken Thumb
May 30th, 2006 by Sean in General Gaming News
Seems that Namco have realised that the PSP D-Pad isn’t exactly the best thing for controlling their upcoming PSP version of Tekken, and neither is the analogue nub thingy, so it would appear that they’ll be shipping a little plastic D-Pad cover that you slip over the PSP’s pad with every copy of the game. With this little beauty installed you’ll find those hard to achieve diagonal moves become a bit easier to achieve, making pulling off those special moves a tad easier.
I must say it reminds me of the Gameboy and Game Gear days, when stick-on replacement D-Pad covers were quite popular. Some even allowed you to convert the D-Pad into a mini joystick, although I remember the sticky pad which came with mine wasn’t quite up to the job, and the stick would fall off during heated gameplay…
Capcom shipped a similar gizmo for use with the recent PSP Street Fighter game, so for the sake of beat ‘em up fans, lets hope the western release of both games see fit to include the D-Pad cover, otherwise we may find rather too many people unable to play due to a crippling case of Tekken Thumb.
