Revolution Renamed
April 28th, 2006 by Sean in Console News
So Nintendo’s claims that Revolution was only a temporary name for their new console have turned out to be true, as they have finally announced it’s new name, which is to be Wii.
That’s right, you haven’t misread it. The new name is Wii.
Hmm…
Personally I prefer Revolution, as it would appear most people do judging by the number of excruciating puns and terrible images which have sprung up since the new name was announced.
Nintendo claim it’s a good name because its easy for people to pronounce the world over, and doesn’t need abbreviating. Jury is still out on the first one guys, but I reckon it looks damned odd when written down.
Oh well, whatever the name its still an interesting idea, but I reckon whoever came up with it must have been using a different type of mushroom than those usually associated with Nintendo. It certainly takes the award for most oddly named console away from Dreamcast, a name which also always seemed a little odd to me, but looks perfectly normal compared to Wii.
