20 Revolution Titles At Launch

Nintendo have announced that they are planning to have 20 titles available for their Revolution console when the machine launches, hopefully later this year. Around one third of these are to be first party titles, with the remainder being developed by development houses external to Nintendo, which certainly bodes well for a future supply of titles as well.

Nintendo of America’s George Harrison said that the company had learned from it’s mistakes, contrasting the relevant drought of titles after the launch of GameCube with the rather more game-laden PS2. He claims that the first year of a console really cements it’s future, so Nintendo are keen this time round to ensure a steady stream of games to keep peoples interest in Revolution high.

He also said that Revolution titles are likely to be advertised in a new way, with film of people playing the games included as well as actual game footage, since it’s the easiest way to really get the message across about how different Revolutions games are likely to be.

Unfortunately a list of these titles was not supplied, but it seems likely that delayed GameCube title Zelda: Twilight Princess is likely to be part of the launch line-up after announcements that the standard GameCube game would be enhanced when played on Revolution. At least one title featuring Mario and chums is also likely, though whether this will be the long awaited Mario 128 would be unlikely. That doesn’t stop us hoping though!
