Animal Crossing Not Hacked After All
February 1st, 2006 by Sean in General Gaming News
Seems like the panic we reported earlier surrounding the Nintendo DS game Animal Crossing: Wild World wasn’t caused by hackers after all, but a bug in the upload system used by Nintendo.
The bug surrounds a special “red tulip” item that was sent to players in an in-game letter. If the player planted this item in their home, they would find it could not be picked up, covered, or removed. This certainly doesn’t seem to be as bad a situation as was originally claimed, but is an annoying problem none the less.
Nintendo made an announcement stating that the cause of the problem has now been fixed, so a repeat in the future should not be possible. Any player who has received this letter in the game is advised to delete the letter before planting the red tulip in their character’s house. Once they have found a solution for those people who fell foul of the bug, it will be published in the Animal Crossing FAQ on the NintendoWiFi website.
