Hackers Target DS Game
January 30th, 2006 by Sean in General Gaming News
Fans of the Nintendo DS version of Animal Crossing who like to play online with their friends should be careful about who is in their friends list, after hackers have managed to ruin the game experience for some players.
When played online you can invite up to three friends to come and spend time in your village. The hackers have found a way of removing the village gates of any village they visit, thus leaving gamers only able to access their village during offline play. The hackers have been taking the friend codes that people have innocently posted on websites and forums and used them against these people.
Giving out your friend code on a website was thought to be a good way of being able to collect all the objects that the game has to offer, since some objects can’t be found in your own village, but it appears you should be a bit more careful who you invite over from now on!
The hack becomes permanent if you save your game after being hacked, but some good news is that it is possible to fix a hacked save game after some fiddling about with an Action Replay cartridge.
