Rumble Roses XX Hits the Ring

If you love wrestling, scantily clad women, and rock music, then you’ll be excited to hear that Rumble Roses XX is just months away from release. Game developer Konami has announced that the popular wrestling game will hit the shelves in Japan on March 30th, with a later release date set in the United States.
For those of you not familiar with the game, Rumble Roses XX is a sequel to the Rumble Roses title released on the Playstation 2 console in late 2004, and despite the “XX” in the tile, is only the second game in the franchise. The latest title has been designed specifically for the Xbox 360 and there has been no indication as of yet that the game will hit any other platform, making this an exclusive Xbox 360 title. The first game got very mixed reviews and was frequently criticized for having showy graphics with little substance. However with scores of scantily clad women grappling each other in the ring, it’s easy to see why the game quickly gained popularity amongst gamers.
Konami has indicated that Rumble Roses XX will follow the same general style as the original title, but will take advantage of the enhanced graphical capability of Microsoft’s next generation console system. A wide number of options are available for gameplay. Victories in the solo mode will allow you to unlock tougher new opponents. The new tag team mode allows gamers to play a pair of female wrestlers and pit them against a variety of paired opponents. And if the idea of playing two ladies isn’t enough, Konami is planning to add a little more spice to the tag team mode with team breakups, accidental attacks on your teammate, and special team combo moves. The new battle royal and elimination modes allow players to test their skills in a range of tough fights.
The game will feature dozens of player characters including poster girls Dixie and Reiko and all of the most popular characters from the first game. A total of 30 different swimsuits and 40 miscellaneous costumes, with a number of additional costumes will be available for download via Xbox Live, will give players plenty of options to customize their wrestler. Other enhancements include nearly an hour’s worth of exciting new entrance animation scenes for the wrestlers, and a number of outdoor rings. Players can now bodyslam their opponent into submission on the top of a skyscraper, grind their opponent’s face into a sandy beach, and grapple poolside. One of the most exciting new features, though, is the addition of online play though Xbox Live. Gamers who connect online will be able to face up against other players in tag team matches.
Although there is no word yet on when the game will be released in the United States. One thing is certain - attractive fit girls in bikinis and skimpy costumes spell money for game developers. Can we say guilty pleasure?
