No New DS - Yet…
January 17th, 2006 by Sean in Console News, Gaming Hardware
Following on from our earlier post regarding the new Nintendo DS, a spokesman for Nintendo Europe has stated that there are currently no plans for an announcement about a redesigned DS, despite rumours started by online importer Lik-Sang which were also backed up by several Japanese retailers.
However, we should expect a redesign eventually. Nintendo have a history of redesigning their hand held consoles, and comments made by Nintendo America Reggie Fils-Aime suggest that a redesign is definitely in the works.
The DS has currently sold 13 million units world wide, and has sold amazingly well in Japan since the new year leading to the stock shortages which have fuelled the debate on the redesign.
