If you are up for the challenge and know, your karate kicks and punches then you maybe able to conquer Mortal Kombat for Sega Genesis.

You play in a tournament type situation where you must win matches against other players. You can play the game against a computer opponent or one of your friends. It is a battle similar to good versus evil, where you can choose from a variety of characters.

As you learn the controls and the special moves and abilities each character possess you will begin to get ahead in the game. The idea is to win each match and protect the earth from demonic take over. Each character has their own special abilities like with Street Fighter, such as you may possess lightening.

With each battle, you get closer to the ultimate battle. If you cannot win, the first go around you can start again until you can.

Some people do not enjoy the repetition in the game such as battle after battle, but what do you expect you are in a tournament; you are not out on a joyride around the countryside. You must conquer each battle to save the world, you do not have to go out and find treasures. You must learn what it takes to beat each character and to sharpen your own skills in order to succeed.
It is of course more fun to play against one of your friends because the computer person is stronger and beats me almost every time because it already knows the moves, whereas your friend does not know your abilities.

For a tournament battling game, this one is fun to play and learn. Oh and by the way, you will learn some new dialogue that you may just pick up and start repeating.

Alternatively, if you can’t face digging out your old Genesis from the closet, you could also grab a copy of Midway Arcade Treasures 2 for PS2 or XBox, which has several of the Mortal Kombat games amongst its number, or the Jakks TV Games version of Mortal Kombat which plugs straight into your TV.
