Fight Night 3 Set for Valentine’s Day Release
January 9th, 2006 by Jen in Game Previews, General Gaming News
Lonely gamers won’t be forced to sit around watching Star Trek reruns or the 1000th showing of When Harry Met Sally this Valentine’s Day. Electronics Arts announced this week that they will be coming to rescue with the release of the next hot boxing game, Fight Night 3. The release date? February 14, also known as Valentines Day for those who are lucky in love.
The Fight Night series has met with great success due to Electronic Art’s attention to graphical detail and fun game play. In the latest installment of the series, Fight Night 3, players groom an amateur novice fighter and work him up the rungs of the competitive boxing ladder. Gamers can alternatively play as any number of famous boxers such as Oscar De La Hoya, or create a boxing style all your own and see how you match up against the signature styles of some of the world’s top fighters. The game features a Self Determinant AI to adapt its style to match the player’s strengths and to exploit their weaknesses, making for a much more lifelike fight.
Other new features include an improved “rivalries” system to keep tensions high between opposing fighters both in and out of the ring, new fighters, and an increased focus on the intricacies of specific fighting styles. In Fight Night 3, your featherweight boxer will look like he is gliding across the ring like a…, well like a feather. By contrast, your heavyweight boxer will now charge his opponent with all the grace and power of an out-of-control Mack truck.
The game is set to be released on a wide range of console gaming platforms including the Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 2, and the PSP. Each of the versions will be online enabled and retail for $39.95. The only exception to this is the Xbox 360 version of Fight Night 3, which while still online enabled, is set to sell at a retail price of $59.95
Xbox 360 players anxious to test out the new game in advance of Valentine’s Day can download a free demo of the game via the Xbox Live Marketplace.
