Knights of Honor
January 1st, 2006 by Anita in Game Reviews
Knights of Honor may remind you of Age of Empire but it is quite a bit different. This is a real time strategy game where your main objective is to conquer the entire continent of Europe.
You must fight, trade, and make alliances if you are to achieve your goal while building up your kingdom at the same time.
You can choose which time period you would like to be in from Early Medieval, which is around 1000AD, high medieval which is around 1200AD, and Late Medieval, which is around 1350AD.
The time period you choose along with the kingdom affects the complexity and confrontations you will have to endure. If you decide on England you will have a large realm with lots of resources where as Aragon is a much smaller kingdom and hardly any resources. According to the kingdom, you choose your economy, the social situations, province sizes and even how the rest of the world reacts to your power will be different. The architectural structure of buildings, the religion of your realm and many other factors are also very different from one kingdom to another.
The goal of Knights of Honor is simple to become the ultimate Emperor of Europe by any means available. However, you must remember all the other countries have rulers that wish the same power and will do what they must in order to succeed.
There are three major game views, which provide a platform for you to make global decisions and to perform your tactical actions such as religion, espionage, warfare, kingdom management and diplomacy. There are a variety of six knights, each have their own special abilities and they will be able to upgrade as the game progresses. The knights include Marshal, Spy, Merchant, Landlord, Builder and Cleric.
The world map of Knights of Honor is one of the largest I have seen in a game similar to this one and there are over 100 playable kingdoms for you to choose from, three geographical regions with over 150 provinces and architectural styles like Western Europe and Arabian. You will also like the 60 different structures each with their own upgrades for defense possibilities and a total of nine various types of battles which include camp assault, open battlefield, and river crossing among many others.
Take the challenge and see if you can conquer the entire continent of Europe or if you will be defeated.
