…Mario Kart DS apparently! To qualify that claim, Nintendo have released figures which show that a whopping 45% of those who bought Mario Kart DS have already played the game live over Nintendo’s new Wi-Fi service.
Out of 112,000 copies sold, around 52,000 unique log-ons have been made to play online against other Karters. Not bad considering the game has only been out for a week in the US, and is also one of the first handheld games to even feature online play. Shows what offering a free service can do! Well done Nintendo!
The UK release of the game is tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see if the take up rate for online play is as high over here. Somehow, I don’t think it will be, but I would love to be proved wrong!
