TiVoToGo
November 23rd, 2005 by Sean in Console News, Gaming Hardware
For those lucky enough to have both a PSP and a TiVo Series 2 Personal Video Recorder, the cool new TiViToGo feature will soon be available. As the name suggests, this will allow you to transfer recordings from your TiVo box onto your PSP (or Apple Video iPod or any other device capable of playing back movie files for that matter) so you can watch your favourite TV shows anywhere you want!
You’ll need a PC in order to do this, since recordings are first transferred from the TiVo to your PC, but from there you can transfer them to whatever device you choose, with the aid of a special piece of software. The system will even allow you to perform an automatic synchronisation of files, meaning you can leave your kit connected overnight and next day you’ll have all your new recordings ready to watch on the way to work or school.
Piracy concerns are being dealt with by the use of a watermarking system. All files created by the TiVo box will be marked with the account from which the transferred recording came from, so don’t be surprised to find your TiVo account suspended if you start uploading your recordings on to the Internet!
The TiVoToGo feature is available now for transfer to PC, but support for the PSP and iPod are due early next year. For more information check out the TiVo website.
